I first encountered foul in Melbourne Australia in 1975 at a small Egyptian take away place in St Kilda. I’ve never forgotten the flavour, but have yet to be able to replicate it. They drizzled Tahiti over it and stuffed a flat bread with it and tabouleh. Lots of lemon. It was great. Here in Western Australia it is hard to find raw fava beans, but I can get tinned ful. … tahini not Tahiti… I can’t edit the text for some reason.

Nice dish. I cooked the beans in chicken broth, which I added (1/4 cup) to the dish plus more garlic and lemon. Also added a bit of hot sauce for extra spice.
